DWER Power Conversion and Turbine Control Equipment
Windurance offers a portfolio of integrated, interoperable, Distributed Wind Power Conversion and Recognized Turbine Control components for wind turbine OEMs serving the North American markets. These components are being developed by Windurance, within the distributed wind energy community, and under the guidance and shared investment of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Distributed Wind Energy CIP program.
WIND-90-480-C Wind Turbine Power Converter
This Distributed Wind Energy Resource (DWER) component pulls wind energy from the wind turbine generator, “converting” it into DC electrical power. DC power feeds other DWER components to control and convert wind energy into certified grid support utility interactive electric power service standards.
-
90kW nominal power rating
-
480V nominal generator voltage
-
Latest high-efficiency SiC FET device technology
-
Works with three-phase synchronous and asynchronous generators
-
CAN bus network provides real-time conditions and control data
-
Generator torque/speed command and control
-
Supports parallel connection for up to 160kW and 240kW rated wind turbine generators
-
Available outdoor enclosure configuration
WIND-90-480-I Wind Turbine Power Inverter
This Distributed Wind Energy Resource component “inverts” DC power from the converter, or storage, into three-phase AC power to the local utility grid connection AC power that connects and delivers power to the local utility grid consumers.
-
90kW nominal power rating
-
480V three-phase grid support utility interactive connection

-
Available outdoor enclosure configuration
WIND-140-850-D Wind Turbine Diversion Load Controller
This Distributed Wind Energy Resource component “diverts” power being produced by the wind turbine generator that is in excess of power that can be delivered to the grid, or to storage. It provides braking energy to facilitate wind turbine control during abnormal grid conditions.
-
140kW nominal power rating
-
Parallel and safety backup operation
-
Serves as a convenient DC bus power distribution junction
-
External load is scalable according to wind turbine design requirements
-
Available outdoor enclosure configuration
WIND-STORE-48 Energy Storage Charge Controller
WIND-STORE is a bidirectional energy flow controller. Connecting one side to the power conversion DC bus and the other to an energy storage element, such as a battery, wind energy produced by the wind turbine in excess of grid demand flows into storage seamlessly according to the characteristics of the battery. When wind energy production falls below the grid demand, energy flows seamlessly from the battery to supplement reduced wind power output.
-
Latest high-efficiency SiC FET device technology
-
Scalable in small increments to optimize application storage dimensions
-
48V OSHA touch safe voltage level
-
CAN bus network provides real-time conditions and control data
